today i am in love.

everything is firing up

inside me, like new years

and independence days.

unshed tears pool

behind my eyes, both

joyous and tragic.

i am in love and

lonely at the same time.

my hands tremble

in dismay and anticipation.

my heart lurches

with longing,

sometimes i cannot

breathe.

i do not even know

your name, have not seen

your face out of the shadows,

nor heard your voice.

you are always

a stranger in my dreams,

hidden like a secret,

an unkept promise,

sometimes you feel like

a punishment.
